Yesterday marked the beginning of E3. The season of big announcements, reveals, and trailers is among us. It’s also worth noting that pre-E3 events, like Summer Games Fest and the Guerrilla Collective showcase, also graced us with interesting titles. But not all announcements are created equal. So, without further ado, here are the best announcements and trailers we’ve seen so far.
Elden Ring (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC)
Summer Games Fest kept the biggest announcement for last: the world premiere gameplay trailer for Elden Ring. FromSoftware’s upcoming title looks like it will keep the challenging gameplay we all know from predecessors like Dark Souls. And better yet, Elden Ring has a release date. Get ready to embark on a perilous journey in January 2022.
Mario+Rabbids: Sparks Of Hope (Switch)
When you think of crossovers, Mario and Rabbids probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But the first game proved to be an extremely fun and competent strategy game. And while Nintendo leaked the game before Ubisoft’s E3 event, the reveal trailer is still a great thing to watch. The game will release in 2022.
The Guerrilla Collective Showcase happened on June 12, mere hours before E3’s official start. It shed some light on a lot of talented indie developers and titles. UnMetal is a 2D stealth/action game. It’s a clear parody of the Metal Gear franchise and seems to have a great sense of humour.
Hunt The Night (PC, Consoles TBA)
Hunt the Night is another game showcased during the Guerrilla Collective event. The retro-style action adventure-game combines dark fantasy with fast and skilled gameplay. The game features and immersive soundtrack from composer Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana) which adapts to every moment.
FireGirl (PC, Consoles)
FireGirl is another gem from the Guerrilla Collective. FireGirl is a 2.5D action platformer set in a fantasy world with monsters made of fire. Players join the eponymous firefighter on her first night on the fire brigade.
Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora (TBA)
The Ubisoft Forward event closed with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The unexpected announcement looks like an ambitious adaptation of James Cameron’s film franchise.
Far Cry 6 Season Pass (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)
I know what you’re thinking. Far Cry 6 isn’t even out yet and Ubisoft is already talking about a season pass. However, the game’s post-launch content plans are interesting. You will be able to play as some of the franchise’s most notorious villains: Vaas, Pagan, and Joseph. On top of that, Blood Dragon will return. Although we don’t have much information regarding the latter.
Needless to say, E3’s first day packed plenty of big news into just a few hours. It’s not over yet, though. Day 2 begins soon and is looking primed to unveil a lot more big news.
You can watch the broadcast on any of E3’s official platforms:
