Minecraft Caves And Cliffs Part 1 Arrives June 8

The first part of Minecraft‘s latest update, Caves and Cliffs, arrives on June 8th. Mojang confirmed that both editions of the game, Bedrock and Java, will get the update. In short, the new content will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and mobile.

Caves and Cliffs Part 1 brings new mobs and new blocks to Minecraft. Players who venture underwater after the update might encounter axolotls. While axolotls won’t harm players, they do have the tendency to attack Drowned. Another new underwater mob is the glow squid. Previously exclusive to Minecraft Earth, glow squids are docile and do not pose a threat to players.

Goats, on the other hand, appear to be much more aggressive. They will not hesitate to rush players and headbutt them. So keep an eye out for goats when climbing up high.

Make no mistake, this goat will hurt you.

Beyond the new mobs, the update also brings up to 91 new blocks for players to search for and mine. The new blocks include amethyst, copper, and dripleaves. The copper block is highly anticipated due to its changing nature. Copper will age after it is placed in the world, “giving your builds a sense of history and a more organic feel.”

Mojang warns that while some blocks “will just pop up in the world,” other will require a lot of searching and a little luck. Of course, players can always hop into Creative Mode and get access to the new blocks immediately.

Minecraft fans will have a lot of digging, and goat-avoiding, to do when Caves and Cliffs Part 1 launched on June 8.
