Supermassive Games’ released a gameplay reveal the upcoming The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes. The latest entry in their series of cinematic, branching horror stories takes players back in time to Iraq in 2003.
In House of Ashes, players will control members of an American military unit trapped in an ancient Sumerian temple. As an ancient evil awakens in the shadows, the soldiers must decide whether “they each prioritize their own survival, or put aside their fears and their personal rivalries to fight together as one.”
The 8-minute long gameplay video sets the game’s tone by showing off the dark areas of the buried temple. It also helps to get a quick sample of some of the main characters, especially their personalities. However, for longtime fans of the series, the type of gameplay shown off will come as no surprise.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes does not have a set release date yet, but it is scheduled for later this year. It will be available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
