Outriders Is “Next Major Franchise” For Square Enix

Outriders appears to be doing very well for itself, according to an article on gamesindustry.biz.

Publisher Square Enix announced that the game reached 3.5 million unique players between April 1 and May 1, 2021. With numbers like that, it comes as no surprise that Square Enix now considers Outriders as its “next major franchise.”

Of course, player count isn’t all that is considered when evaluating a game’s success. Luckily, the co-op looter-shooter is seeing impressive gameplay statistics. According to Jon Brooke, co-head of studio at Square Enix External Studios, players have spent an average of 30 hours in game and cooperative play has seen “extremely high engagement.”

Outriders enjoyed a very successful launch at the beginning of April 2021, no doubt helped by its Day-1 availability on Xbox Game Pass. It reached number 3 in the charts, coming in behind Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Monster Hunter: Rise.

Outriders is a co-op RPG shooter available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Google Stadia, and PC.
